Strategy #3: Focus on “Supporting” Long-Tail Keywords to Outrank your Competitors:

Suppose you find a long tail keyword: “how should I run.”

Now, when you search for this keyword on Google, you will notice that none of the titles contain the phrase “how should I run,” so Google must group this query as part of the head term of this broader overall topic of “running tips” or “how to run.”

Never target these kinds of long-tail keywords separately. You’ll waste your time because Google views all of them as being part of a broader topic.

Strategy #4: Start Ranking for “Topical” Long-Tail Keywords:

There are many keywords in every niche that are topics on their own with low search volume queries.

For example, in content marketing, the search term “Keyword Cannibalisation” is a topical search keyword. It has less search volume, but very less SEO rank difficult.

So, instead of highly competitive keywords like content marketing, copywriting, SEO, marketing, you should target each topical long-tail keyword with a unique page. Within a few weeks or months, you will start ranking for topical long-tail keywords quickly.

This way, you can get tons of traffic from topical long-tail keywords by ranking for almost 50 of them.
